I had a terrible dream when I fell asleep around 5 in the morning (I should have just gotten up). I’m walking at the factory where I work, along a ditch. There’s construction going on everywhere, the ground in and around the ditch is wet, clay, sand. I stumbled and jumped into the ditch, my feet sank in up to my ankles. I started sizing up how to get out, and suddenly I sank in up to my knees. I leaned my whole body against the sloped side, grabbing at some blades of grass to pull myself up and get out, and I sank in up to my waist. I realize that every movement sinks me even deeper, I try not to move, but I feel that I’m gradually being pulled in more and more. I start screaming: help! The scream comes out no louder than a conversation in a half-whisper, and there’s no one nearby. It’s horribly frightening, I think: right now it’s going to pull me under that slab that’s nearby, and no one will ever find me. And then I wake up. In horror and relief that it’s not real. What should I expect? It seems I didn’t drown, but I also didn’t get saved…

In the dream, that exact comparison came to her.
