Dreams about eyes, lenses and glasses occur more often than it seems. Many people with poor eyesight have such dreams. And it is not always just a reflection of daytime worries. Sometimes dreams give real hints that can change the situation for the better. Our project has collected confirmed outcomes of dreams that helped people solve vision problems.
Eyes in a dream are a source of pure information about some event or about people’s attitude toward each other, and they also show the dream character’s ability to perceive what is happening. Good vision is a symbol of control over the situation, an understanding of what is happening; often it indicates success in some matter.
The better and farther a person sees in a dream, the greater their chances of a fortunate solution to all their tasks. Poor vision or its deterioration in a dream speaks of ignorance or of a difficult life situation, when emotions or the subjective ability to react become not quite adequate. Eye diseases mean prolonged troubles, a dark streak in life.
Lenses and glasses in a dream are a way to make something out and see well what is happening in life. They help bring things into focus, see details, sort out a situation. If in a dream you put on lenses or glasses and begin to see better, it means that in reality you will be able to sort out what is troubling you. If the lenses do not go on, do not fit, it means you are trying to see something that is not yet available to you or does not suit you.
A participant’s story: how dreams helped improve vision
Here is what one of our project’s participants told us.
I’m so fed up with these lenses. They dry out my eyes, my eyelids cut like sandpaper. At night I wake up and can’t pry my eyes open. You might as well keep a jar of water next to you, like an old baba, to wet them so you can make it to the toilet.
You run to the optician like to the bank to pay utility bills — no less than once a month. Like being on a needle. What kind of life is this! I want to get rid of them. I really want to. I’m sick of these test tubes, little boxes with a bottle of lens solution. I’m sick of poking my fingers in my eyes in the morning and pulling them back out in the evening. I want to just get up in the morning, wash my face, and, after powdering my nose, flutter out onto the street. And see everything WITH MY OWN EYES. Without lenses and glasses.
Last time at the eye doctor I still didn’t understand why she didn’t cancel my lenses but offered to choose different ones. More expensive ones. She didn’t really explain anything, just shoved a prescription at me and wrote out a medicine. And yet my eyes are red like a vampire’s after a sabbath.
I went online, read about similar symptoms, and my mood got completely ruined. Should I prescribe glasses for myself? I don’t want to be a four-eyes. That’s not very convenient either.
So, after a sleepless night, hurrying to work, immersed in my thoughts, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d forgotten something.
Damn! I dreamed about lenses today. Remember! Lenses. There were many of them. I’m trying to put them on, but they’re bigger than my eye. Made of rough film. Huge ones. They just don’t fit into the eye. I take one, then a second, then a third — all the same.
I get to work, run to the lab, tell my colleagues about my dream. And they immediately give me their analysis: your eye doesn’t accept lenses. The reason — size mismatch. Possibly the diopter value. I’m a colleague myself. I think: how long can you keep stepping on the same rake? Ask the question. How can vision be improved?
The dream came the very next night. I’m on the top floor of a multi-story building. A beautiful panorama. Everything is very clearly visible. It’s as if I’m examining the details under a magnifying glass. There’s a lens case on the windowsill. I put the lens to my eye and try to look through it. At first everything is blurry. Then the focus adjusts, and with the lens I begin to see well. I take the lens away, and now with my own eyes I see everything blurry.
How the participant applied the hint from the dream
I decided to conduct an experiment after this dream. I bought lenses 0.25 less than the ones I wore and had been prescribed. A week later, in the new weaker lenses, I could see perfectly, 1.0 in each eye. Over the following year I changed lenses six times. And each time — 0.25 less. I switched to weaker ones when the sharpness of my vision became comfortable.
A year later I went to the eye doctor and asked her to write me a prescription for lenses without showing her the old one. Instead of -3 in both eyes, my vision was -1.0 and -1.25. And that’s a fact!
When I was leaving the doctor, I asked whether it could be that if I keep reducing the diopters of the lenses, my vision would adjust. She laughed and said no. I showed her the old prescription. Nervously checking the data, she asked for my medical card, where the results of additional examinations were. She asked what else I had done to improve my vision.
I honestly admitted — at least three times a week I make fresh carrot juice. That hint also came to me in a dream. And I didn’t resist. It’s a personal recommendation, after all. As we said goodbye, the eye doctor advised me to write about my method on the internet.
What dreams about lenses and glasses mean
Lenses and glasses in a dream are a way to examine something and see clearly what is happening in life. They help bring the situation into focus. If in a dream you put on lenses or glasses and begin to see better, it means that in reality you will be able to sort out what is bothering you. If the lenses do not go on or do not fit, it means you are trying to see something that is not yet available to you.
In this story, the dream showed that the cause of the discomfort was not the eyes, but incorrectly selected lenses. The subconscious gave a hint, and it worked. The participant gradually reduced her diopters, and her vision improved. This is not magic. It is the work of the body, which receives the right signal.
What research says about vision and the subconscious
Based on data from our project, we see consistent patterns. Dreams about eyes often point to real vision problems. But they can also provide solutions, as in this story.
Thousands of dreams have outcomes confirmed by users. Analysis shows that different people see similar dreams about eyes, lenses, and glasses. And these dreams correlate with the same problems in reality. This makes it possible to identify consistent patterns between symbols and reality.
In the case of this participant, the dream worked like a diagnosis. It showed the problem and gave a solution. Reducing diopters is a nonstandard approach. But it worked. And the doctor confirmed the improvement.
Carrot fresh juice as an additional hint
The participant mentioned that the hint about carrot fresh juice also came in a dream. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which is important for eye health. But that is not the only point. The dream gave her an additional tool. She did not resist, implemented it, and got a result.
This is an important point. Dreams often give not just one hint, but several. It’s important to be attentive to details. If you have a dream about eyes, write down all the details. What were you doing with the lenses or glasses? What were the sensations? Who was nearby?
What to do if you dreamed about lenses or glasses
If you dreamed about lenses or glasses, pay attention to your sensations in the dream. If you feel comfortable and can see well, it means you are perceiving the situation correctly. If you feel uncomfortable, something is going wrong.
If the lenses don’t go on, don’t fit — perhaps you are trying to see something that is not yet available to you. If you see yourself in glasses and feel confident — you can figure out what is happening well.
