When a dove flies into your home…

Before my second marriage, a dove flew in through the window, perched on the cupboard, and then on my mother’s shoulder. One of the elders then remarked that this was a sign connected with the future son-in-law and that the marriage would have a karmic character (that seems to be how they put it), foretelling that the time would come when he would become a burden (just as in the dream the dove sat on the shoulder).

And indeed everything turned out exactly that way. Moreover, when I was pondering whether to marry him or not, grandmother advised me to imagine in a dream that I was entering a shop of dishes…

Through prayers I induced a dream with a dish shop (now this is called an Affirmation among us).

As soon as I stepped over the threshold of that shop with dishes, I could not stop admiring the goods on display. Everything seemed wonderful, and any minor flaws played no role. I felt as though I could buy anything I wanted! It seems grandmother approved of it too, though she did not express it in words…

In life there were also moments of complete admiration for my spouse; his shortcomings seemed trifles. But after eight years a misfortune happened that destroyed our marriage; four years later he began to laze about. I suspect that I also had a share of blame in this: holding a high position in society, I turned a blind eye to his way of life.

As for the third civil marriage – here there were no preconditions for changes. From the very beginning he set the terms: an official wedding did not interest him. A big plus was that feeling of reliability: from the outside he seemed like a “stone wall.”

I thought maybe I’d find some shoes for myself, but everything turned out to be of such low quality — you’d have to simply not respect yourself to wear that. In the end I understand that I’m missing my chance.

What I could only dream of happened — literally just a few days ago a neighbor brought his friend from Petersburg to our house. And now what? My beloved to sail away without me? Is he here really to meet women? I had a feeling that all these expensive things were beyond my means. Other people came in and easily afforded such luxury.
