The participant’s story: “I had the dream in 2009 on Apple Savior, August 19. By the way, I’ve noticed that on church holidays I often have very informative and memorable dreams.

Preface to the dream. In my childhood I had a beloved uncle (my mother’s brother) who spoiled me a lot. I adored him; he died early, while I was still in school. He was a long-distance sailor and died on a ship from a heart attack in a port in Japan. And now the dream.

I am at home, it’s daytime, bright, outside all the trees and grass are green. I look out the window, a white Zhiguli car pulls up. People get out of the car laughing merrily and discussing something, and with them is my father, and the driver is my deceased uncle.

My father was sitting in the back seat. When I saw him, my joy knew no bounds. I really wanted to see my uncle and tell him how I was living, that I already had a daughter. I shouted to my mom that uncle had arrived and that they were coming up to our home. I immediately began thinking about what I needed to set the table with, because they’re men, they need to be fed.

The door opened and my father came in, along with some man I didn’t know. My father said, “This is where I live,” and they went into my father’s room. And I stood there waiting for my uncle to come in, but he still wasn’t there. To myself I thought, why is he taking so long to come up?

Then I looked out the window and saw this scene: not a soul on the street, silence, all the trees standing bare, the grass dried up (deep autumn). The car was already gone, and only a dry wind was lifting the remnants of leaves and dust along the road. A feeling of sorrow, disappointment, and the deepest emptiness came over me at that moment.”

How the dream came true: “My father felt unwell at work, a massive heart attack. He was taken to the hospital. 4 days in intensive care, he got better, he was transferred to a ward. He came back home. And it already seemed to us that everything was behind us, but on the 5th day, after the hospital, he died in his sleep without regaining consciousness.

It played out symbolically that my uncle died from the same illness as my father. Both of them had an attack at work. My uncle was behind the wheel (in full control of the situation), and my father was a passenger. And the fact that my uncle brought him home—and so it turned out that my father came back from the hospital. Though not for long, but still.”
