Color in dreams is a sensory, emotional, and also symbolic characteristic of events, phenomena, and relationships. Whatever the color may be, some kind of feeling will always arise from it. Perception. This will be an additional and in some cases even determining criterion for its characterization.
Therefore, when you interpret a dream, pleasant and positive feelings will characterize the positive meaning of the symbol. Heavy and unpleasant sensations will characterize the negative meanings of the dream symbol.
Attention should be paid to the perception, shade, purity, even the “beauty” of a particular color in a dream because, like almost any dream symbol, it has an ambivalent meaning. That is, it can be negative or positive in character. Any color, depending on these additional aspects, can mean a good or bad, positive or negative event.
When deciphering any symbols, one should take into account the combination: the symbolism of the color + the thing, item, or object of that color.

Color and colorless dreams: what they mean
Do you know how colorful dreams differ from black-and-white ones? Color in a dream conveys a range of emotions with it.
Bright (beautiful) and saturated colors and light are an indication of joy, well-being, a cheerful mood, of happiness. Calm light tones are the same kind of “calmness in the soul,” peace, enjoyment of life. Bright colorful colors, for example bright blue, purple, burgundy, green, and so on, mean intensity of emotions. They are likewise “strong.”
For example, burgundy is the color of anger.
Bright red – of passion.
Bright yellow – of joy, euphoria.
Bright green (closer to light green) – the rebirth of feelings and relationships with renewed strength.
Green (grass green) – health, strength and energy.
By your perception of color in a dream, it is easy to determine the following synchronization with your state in reality:
-
if you saw a color in a dream as “beautiful” – circumstances are in your favor. You will like them (because to you they are beautiful);
-
if the color was “dirty, heavy, gloomy, too bright or unnatural,” you will be dissatisfied, disappointed, or upset. This is a negative characteristic of the symbols.
Colorless dreams. In contrast to this, black-and-white dreams, colorless, “gray” – speak of depression, melancholy, negative emotions. And the more dark tones there are, the worse the person’s psychological and emotional state.
Therefore I always ask that you tell your dreams and convey information about the atmosphere. This will immediately show the main background of your emotions and state. All dreams are a reflection of the inner world of the dreamer himself.
The full interpretation of all colors, with all nuances and details, is available only to members of our dreamers’ club in the app. There, too, are hundreds of real dreams where these symbols manifested in life.
What different colors mean in a dream
Black color in a dream
In the negative aspect: hidden, secret, unknown, sacred. Depression, fear, illness, death.
Willpower, the color of power and superiority (a self-confident person chooses black to emphasize their might, while a weak person under the pressure of black tends to fall into depression, experiencing a feeling of anxiety and constant fear).
Black clothing in general (if in the dream this clothing is beautiful and clean) – the dominant of aristocratic style, the standard of elegance, an attribute of solemnity and significance. In the modern world, the black color of business clothing, shoes, and accessories is the norm of the business style dress code.
If the black clothing is outerwear (a coat, a cloak) – it may be an indication of protection.
Black underwear – sex, an intimate relationship, often symbolizes hidden, secret relationships or the desire for them.
A black headdress – deep depression, a severe post-stress state.
Black hair on a person who actually has a different hair color – “black thoughts,” if the hair is dirty or unattractive, with clumps. Healthy, shiny, and very beautiful black – may be a symbol of wealth.
The perception of black, as well as other colors, is individual. With a normal, harmonious psychological background, black should not have a negative impact on a person’s worldview and self-esteem. However, if there are any problems, contradictions, or self-doubt, black is a negative symbol in a dream.
Red color in a dream
Red color in a dream means strong emotions, passion, anger. It also means beautiful, lovely. It also means joy, beauty, love, and fullness of life. Wisdom and power (the royal color).
An attribute of wealth and power — red interior items, furniture, walls of the house.
Red flowers — love, passion.
Red clothing — sexuality, passion, strong emotions.
Aggressive red (dark, dirty, burgundy) — enmity, revenge, war.
In clothing, it may indicate excitement, restlessness, nervous tension, anxiety.
Yellow color in a dream
Yellow color in a dream — wealth, courage, joy, lightness, youth.
Murky yellow color — this is sadness, melancholy, separation, envy, and jealousy.
“Heavy” yellow color — illness. Or, in other words, pus-yellow.
Golden-yellow color — a symbol of spirit, wisdom, the color of holiness.
Dark yellow color is usually associated with infidelity, stinginess, and distrustfulness.
Green color in a dream
Green — youth, life opportunities. Recovery, positive changes.
Dark (dirty) green — immaturity, envy, malice. It can also mean illness, jealousy.
The green color in a positive aspect very often means healing. As far as health is concerned. And if it is the color of the clothing of a person of the opposite sex, it may indicate a renewal of the relationship, if the green was young.
There is such a term for shades of colors – rotten green, young green. In a negative aspect, the green color may indicate envy, or illnesses.
Blue color in a dream
Blue – the heavens, the eternal. Kindness, fidelity, constancy, spirituality. Also honesty, chastity, nobility of origin. It may be an indication of a gift of fate, “higher” protection and patronage. Hidden power and calm.
Dark (dirty) blue – psychosis, aggression, often poorly controlled.
White color in a dream
White color – purity, chastity, perfection. It also means spotlessness, innocence, virtue, joy. It may indicate the obvious, the true, awareness, clarity, solemnity and grandeur, matrimony.
The opposite meaning – in anxious dreams – because by its nature it absorbs and neutralizes all other colors and is correlated with emptiness, bodilessness, death.
A white headdress in dreams means severe stress and suffering.
Purple color in a dream
For people engaged in spiritual practices – achievements, a high level of understanding, spiritual enlightenment, healing powers of a higher order.
In threatening dreams – if the color has a dark, “heavy” shade – danger from a man, aggression, cruelty, violence.
Magenta color in a dream
Purple is dignity and inspiration. In Christianity, along with white, it symbolizes the color of God the Father. Purple robes emphasize belonging to the lodge of saints, chosenness, high position.
Brown color in a dream
Brown is earth, fundamental foundations, family, traditions. An “earthbound” personality. Brown that is “ugly,” impure – physical exhaustion and depression.
Silver color in a dream
Silver is not a color, but its additional characteristic. That is, in such cases there is a main color, and an additional one – silver. Say, silver metallic, silver red or yellow, and so on. Say, dull gray is one thing, while sparkling is a characteristic: bright, joyful. And of course, one must take into account the entire totality of symbolism.

Clothing color in a dream: what it says about a person
In dreams, our subconscious flawlessly gives out masses of information with the help of color.
Since in dreams we see most objects and things as they are, it is precisely the color of clothing that indicates what a person “reflects” or, conversely, “holds back.” That is, it indicates the “state they emit.”
White – reflects all colors and retains none. If clothing in a dream is white, it often means “purity” of feelings and thoughts (nothing is hidden). It is also a “dressy” clothing color (ceremonial), when something is announced to the whole world (also – nothing is hidden). In a negative aspect, white can indicate complete detachment – the reasons may vary (from psychological to physical).
Black – on the contrary, it “retains” everything and reflects nothing. Black clothing means “restraint”: from formal to emotional. In a good aspect, the business sphere. In a bad one – grief, mourning. Sometimes also “secrets” hidden from everyone.
Blue – masculine principle – a cold color, sobering and bringing thoughts into order. Fewer emotions, more control of thoughts.
Yellow – bright and beautiful – joy and also awareness.
Red – feminine principle – the most saturated of colors. Often it is an indication of passion, strong emotions.
A dream that came true: a blue half-dried flower and banking
I dreamed that I was in a room, in the central part of which were stems of dried flowers. My ex-wife, whom I divorced about a year ago, enters the room. She brings in a half-dried flower with a blue bud (seemingly in a pot). A section of dried flowers separates us, and it was precisely among them that she placed this flower with the words: “It will still stand/live for a month.”
How it came true: There was one unresolved banking matter. It was related to a joint mortgage. After the division of property, due to an oversight, I was not removed from the database of co-borrowers. This was finally done a month after the dream.
Interpretation of symbols. Withered flowers are a symbol of the relationship, or more precisely, that all their possible aspects are dead. A half-withered flower with a blue bud is the last unresolved aspect of the relationship, namely the blue color of the bud indicates the business sphere, a certain administrative matter. The indication that the flower would last a month is the time of the final resolution of this matter.
In essence, the dream showed that all relations between them had been terminated on both sides, except for the administrative matter, which would be resolved in a month.
A dream that came true: the white coat and pneumonia
There was a dream: I am in a white coat walking along a path with a man. I fall on my back and there is a dirty stain on my back. He helps me get up.
How it came true: In the autumn, in a situation with this man, it turned out that I ended up in the hospital (an emergency condition with my lungs). In the projection where there was a stain on the coat, a CT scan found pneumonia. He went to the hospital with me, but there was no help as such from him (although in the dream he helped me get up).
This dream shows how the color of clothing can warn of illness. A white coat is purity, but a stain on it is a signal of a problem. A dirty stain on the back is an illness in the area of the lungs.
How to work with color in a dream
If there was an emphasis on color in your dream, pay attention to it. Color is the key to understanding the dream. Write down which color was the brightest. Think about what this color means in your life.
If the color was pleasant, the event will be good. If it was unpleasant, be prepared for difficulties. If the color points to a season, the event will happen at that time.
Pay attention to the shades. A dirty, heavy color means negativity. A bright, clean one means positivity.
