A book in a dream is knowledge or information about something or someone. The solutions to such dreams are usually accompanied by insights. The first thing you need to determine right away is whose book it was. This information is usually present in the dream. Often even “just a book,” if there is no notion in the dream itself that it belongs to someone else, has a direct relation to you.
If you want to check your symbols, go to the dream interpretation app. There are thousands of real examples from our project, a complete database of dreams that came true, and more than 7000 symbols with interpretations that are not publicly available.
What a book means in a dream
Your book in a dream is a kind of your “life story.” When libraries of timeless truths are seen in dreams, all books are books of lives. Someone else’s book is someone else’s life story.
Books on a specific subject are information on the question you need. Usually, at the very same time when such a dream is seen, a person is searching for information. And not just some information, but knowledge.
Bookshelves and libraries
Here you need to take into account where these shelves and libraries were.
If in your own home (at your place), then this points to experience, the past, your own stories and those of family members. Also to karma, in the broadest sense.
By analogy, bookshelves in other rooms are a kind of structured information within the subject matter (competence) of those places where these shelves were.
A bookshop indicates that something you need is in the public domain. In the public space.
What are such dreams about? As a rule, they are dreamed during important periods of life, at moments of great, global changes and transformations. When a person, having accumulated experience, moves to a higher stage of their development as an individual.
The appearance of the book characterizes the quality of such changes. A beautiful and voluminous one indicates great experience that has made you wiser, calmer, and more mature emotionally. Intellectually, naturally, as well.
A large number of books in a library is an indication of “another turn of the story.” If the books are of a specific subject, then here the subconscious focuses your attention on something quite specific amid the “sea of information.” This is relevant right now. You are helping yourself in this way in your dream.
In a person’s life, these are important moments in their development as an individual.
When books in a dream are about something (an object, a branch of science, some discipline), then this is a direct hint — to pay attention to information on a similar subject. It will help in resolving the issues you are dealing with at the time of the dream.
Actions with a book in a dream
Reading a book — the desire and opportunity to gain access to information.
Writing — an indication that you are the author of your own destiny at this moment. If the book is on a specific subject, you are a specialist in that same field.
Searching for a book, wanting to acquire it, buying it — means searching for the information you need. It can be either conscious or intuitive, unconscious.
A dream that came true: the library and the new boss
Here is one of the dreams of a project participant that came true. This is just one example out of thousands. The world’s largest database of dreams that came true is collected in our app. There you will find stories that will confirm or refute your guesses.
A couple of weeks ago I dreamed that my former boss (I’m on good terms with him) led me by the hand to a stadium. Specifically, to a children’s library, which for some reason turned out to be in the place where chess competitions usually take place.
I went into the library, it was very beautiful, it had just been renovated. A friendly librarian met me, on the floor there was a green carpet with thick pile, which was pleasant to walk on with feet in tights (I took off my shoes there).
How the dream came true: In reality, I’m still a newcomer at work, hence the symbol of the children’s library. At work I still have a lot to learn. It was specifically my boss who brought me to this job in exactly the same way and “handed me over” to an employee for training (that’s the librarian in the dream). The green carpet with thick pile – very good earnings and prospects.
A dream that came true: exchanging a book for knowledge
And I also had a dream about books last summer, as soon as I joined the project. I dreamed that I exchanged my book – thick, beautiful, in a blue-silver binding (an encyclopedia or some kind of reference book) for another one.
It was a bit thinner, plainer-looking, light apricot in color with a dark red or brownish inscription (I didn’t remember the title).
And to someone’s question about why I swapped my magnificent book, I answered: “This book, even though it’s smaller, contains the knowledge I need. It’s more important to me.”
How the dream came true: In reality, it’s about the knowledge on the project. It’s truly very important to me right now. I’m still at the beginning of the path (the book was smaller than the one I was changing). But the ones that are “beautifully packaged” are a simple encyclopedia. And I need valuable knowledge.
An interesting story: an ancient book and the sunrise
And here’s another story that deserves attention. The dream was dreamed by one of the project participants. She was doing the Guide.
The dream itself: I see the sunrise. It’s dark all around, not scary, just dark all around. The sun is rising. Very bright sunlight. Very powerful light. It literally tears through the darkness. Unbelievably powerful. The sun has almost completely risen above the horizon.
The power of the sun and the light just took my breath away. The rising sun illuminated a book. The book is ancient. Bound in good reddish leather. The leather is good, but you can see that the book is many centuries old.
The book has metal inlays, and, from the feel of it, I don’t exactly remember, but from the feel of it, it’s also adorned with precious stones. A folio, I think that’s what such rarities are called. The book is open, but it’s lying with its open pages down. That’s how we turn a book over when we’re briefly distracted from reading. That is, the open pages are down, the cover and binding are on top.
The book is at eye level.
The feeling from the book was good, and likewise its value took my breath away. There was amazement that it had appeared. For another couple of hours after waking up, this power of the sun and light was literally seething inside me. Then I remembered the book and immediately had a bunch of questions. Whose book is this? Why did it appear here?
Did someone forget a book? Is the book meant for me? Why is it open and lying pages down? Does this mean that some information is revealed to me? Or, on the contrary, am I not supposed to know it, is it hidden?
Why did it appear? The book is at eye level, which means the present and the very near future.
How the dream was interpreted: The rising sun is a symbol of the beginning of something new in life: a new period, new successes, endeavors, new love and new relationships. Since the sunrise was beautiful, and the sun’s rays powerful and bright, this means that a happy beginning of a certain period of your life awaits you, completely unclouded by anything. It breaks through the darkness, which means that at this moment your life may be going through not the best or most pleasant period.
But very soon everything will change for the better in a radical way. These changes will be so significant for you that they will take your breath away — exactly the same sensations you experienced in the dream will also be there in reality.
Another important aspect of such a dream is the intensity of the rays, the light. It signifies enlightenment, an understanding of something so important in life and for your whole life that the changes caused by this realization will bring about a transformation of everything. And of course, for the better.
Imagine a person living — like everyone else. Simply as an element of the mass of people. Identical, unremarkable, no different from others. With no chance to change their life, to live a different fate. And then suddenly everything changes.
Something fateful happens (the sun is in the sky. This is a rigid symbol, which means that everything will happen without a doubt. It also means that no one, including you, will be able to hinder, stop, or cancel such turns of fate).
And this turning point in fate — it changes everything into Before and After. A new life begins. So different that you will remember the past as someone else’s life story. Such a striking difference.
A book is always some kind of information that you may soon receive or learn, and this information will be necessary for you for something. It will be available to you, you will only need to make an effort for it (to turn the page of the book).
And yes, you are right in your description. You once already studied what you will return to. Maybe not even in recent years, and maybe not in this life.
True knowledge accumulates over the course of many reincarnations. Not over the course of one incarnation. And such carriers of information always have an advantage over other people. Their knowledge is a true treasure.
The antiquity of the book confirms this once again. And the awareness of its value points to the pricelessness of such knowledge, abilities, and skills of yours.
The very symbol of an ancient book may mean information or knowledge that comes from the depths of centuries, and you will be able to obtain this knowledge if you make a little effort. What exactly this knowledge or information will concern — there is no information about that here.
Remember what has been troubling you most lately — perhaps it is your personal life, perhaps questions of health, finances. So some information from one of these areas will be available to you. And maybe it is a certain ability of yours that will be revealed, and once it manifests, you will change all aspects of your life.
The book is undoubtedly yours. It belongs to you. If it were not yours — there would be other signs. If it were not the time — there would also be an indication of that.
And so – both time and opportunities coincided. In the near future everything will manifest consciously. The main thing is to use the chance to the fullest.
The full version of the dream book with interpretations of all symbols and thousands of dreams that came true is available only in the app. There you will find dream diaries, decoding algorithms and thousands of real examples from our project.
What to do if you dreamed of a book
If you dreamed of a book, write down the dream. Immediately after waking up, write down all the details before they are forgotten. Write down your sensations during the dream and after waking up.
Check the symbols in the app. Each symbol has its own meaning. Check all the details of your dream. Do not search on the website, search in the app – there are more than 7000 symbols for deciphering dreams, which are determined based on analytics of thousands of dreams that came true in the project.
Pay attention to the appearance of the book, its content, the actions you performed with it. This will help you understand exactly what information is available to you.

About the project
Our project is a research study about dreams that has been ongoing for many years. Over this time, the world’s largest database of dreams that came true has been collected. Thousands of participants share their stories, and based on these stories we compile interpretations of symbols.
Unlike ordinary dream dictionaries, which take meanings from encyclopedias, our dream dictionary is created based on the analysis of real dreams that came true. Every symbol has been tested in practice. If different people had the same symbol coincide with the same events, it is included in the database.
The app is a dreamers’ club with private access. It contains everything: the complete dream dictionary database (more than 7,000 symbols), the world’s largest database of dreams that came true, practices for inducing informational dreams, diaries, and decoding algorithms.
We don’t tell fortunes or predict. We work with data. Symbols, patterns, correlations. Dreams show what is already happening or will happen. And it can be verified. As we do on the project.
