A month ago I accidentally felt a lump in my breast. It wasn’t even one dense little ball, but three. I decided not to look on the internet, but to ask my subconscious for the answer. I went to sleep with the request: should I worry about these lumps?

The dream: I’m in a doctor’s office, with a board in front of me. It’s divided into two parts: the left one with a red top (like a frame, a border at the top), the right one with a green one. I see the doctor and anxiously say something to him, and he asks: “Symptoms, pain – do you have any?” I say: “No…” He picks up something like a piece of chalk and says: “Then here!” – and puts a checkmark in the green part of the board. I don’t calm down and continue: “But what if there’s pain?!” To which he calmly says: “Sometimes they forget an iron chain inside.”

The fulfillment. The dream calmed the participant down. She understood that on the whole the situation was safe (the checkmark in the green zone), but she needed to see a doctor. She only managed to get in to see him some time later. The ultrasound showed it was fibrocystic mastopathy – a blockage of a milk duct. Accumulated fluid in the form of three cysts, which could be removed in a minute.

In the dream the doctor immediately gave the diagnosis: “sometimes they forget an iron chain inside.” Here a play on words comes into effect: forgot = got clogged, iron = iron, chain – the ducts, in the form of threads, “chains.” Total: sometimes the ducts of the mammary glands get clogged.

The doctor insisted on the procedure, but the participant decided to refuse and consult another doctor. She considered it more correct to gather the opinions of at least two specialists.
