What a pit means in a dream: dream interpretation and fulfilled stories
A woman had a dream a week and a half before the event. The sun is shining, she steps onto a stone bridge. Suddenly a crack runs across the bridge in front of her, splitting the bridge in half. The ends rise up like a wall, there is no way forward. She turns back, but behind her it is the same. The ground splits beneath her feet, and she falls into a pit. Sand and liquid cement pour down from above. Pressure on her chest. She realizes: there is no chance of survival. Then she sees herself from the outside. A man is hanging over the cliff, holding on with his last strength. Two young men are flying to help him. Some time later, her friend’s mother fell ill. Covid, double pneumonia. A day before her death, the friend called and said: mom has 100% lung damage, there is no chance. The words matched the thoughts in the dream. The man over the abyss is the friend’s father. The two young men are funeral service workers.
A pit in a dream means unforeseen and dangerous situations in life. Very often a pit is dreamed of before a situation when you will experience incredible fear for your own life or for the lives of your loved ones.
The project’s database helps to make sense of the details of such a dream. In our application there are more than 7000 symbols that are not available in the public domain. The website only has a fragment of the dream book. It also contains stories from participants whose dreams came true in reality.
A pit in a dream: what it means and what it points to
A pit in a dream signifies unforeseen and dangerous situations in life. Very often, a pit is dreamed of in relation to a situation where you will experience incredible fear for your life or the lives of your loved ones. If in a dream you see a pit, for example, on a road, it means the dream points to a possible danger, obstacles along the way, or things related to travel or movement plans.
A pit to the side or behind you — most likely, trouble will pass you by. If the pit is ahead in front of you, then the event is still among the possibilities of the future. However, it is not certain that it will happen.
If in your dream you fell or saw someone fall into a pit, the dream signifies illness or an accident, an extremely difficult and for a time hopeless situation (if by the end of the dream you did not get out of the pit).
A pit symbolically differs from other unpleasant events in that it involves a sharp change in circumstances. And also a forced position. No one voluntarily jumps into a pit; usually this measure is forced or involuntary. The deeper and larger the pit, the more dangerous the situation.
If, after all, this happened to someone or to you (meaning the dream and its consequences), know that it is always possible to get out of a pit. This is how it differs, as a symbol of the mental world, from an abyss, for example. If you can get out of the pit in a dream, you will manage the same in waking life. Remember, everything first happens on the subtle planes, and only then in the real world.

You can check all the details of a dream in the app. There are more than 7,000 symbols there, and each one is determined based on analytics of thousands of dreams from the project that came true. The website does not have such a database.
Digging a pit, sitting in a pit, and a pit with water in a dream
Digging a hole means that through your actions you will harm yourself or someone close to you.
If you dreamed of a dug hole, the dream means that you have an enemy who will try to destroy you in the literal or figurative sense. Be careful! This is a warning dream, the danger is near and real. Such dreams will necessarily contain additional signs pointing to a specific person or situation.
Sitting in a hole means a feeling of a hopeless situation. Try to change the projection of the future.
A toilet cesspit foretells shame and humiliation. By your actions in the dream you will be able to determine whether such a fate will pass you by or not.
Sometimes a hole with water appears in dreams. Such a dream means that the difficulties of your situation will drive you to complete despair and severe stress.
The full picture with all the nuances is given by our app. There is a complete database of the project’s dream book, more than 7,000 symbols, which is not in the public domain. We even have dreams that are not in any dream book, because these are not invented symbols, but real ones that came true.
A dream about a hole and a son’s illness that came true
Participant’s story: “I dreamed about it about 13 years ago, back then I had no idea how to interpret dreams, but after waking up I realized that everything I had dreamed was not for good. The dream: my husband, my real 6-year-old son, and I are strolling through a beautiful spring forest. Birds are singing, butterflies are all around, everything is blooming and fragrant. Ahead I see a small pond about 2 meters in diameter. My husband ran up, lay down on the ground on his stomach and started touching the water. I come closer and see that it is a pit about 5 meters deep. The water is clear and cold. In the pit lies a naked woman, and around her are many newborn naked infants (7-10). I understand that they are sleeping there, and the woman is guarding them. They will not let anyone touch her, and she will not let anyone touch them. I tell my husband to get up, because our son is about to repeat everything exactly the same. He gets up, and we walk on, strolling. I turn around and see: my son has lain down just like his dad and is touching the water. And at that moment the woman from the water comes to life, grabs him by the scruff of the neck and pulls him to the bottom. The children come to life and start climbing onto my son and grabbing him with their hands. I run up, I want to grab him, but I can’t, she is pulling him deeper and deeper. I shout to my husband: help, pull him out! He pulled our son out on the first try, by the scruff of the neck, and threw him onto a green sunny clearing.
It came true quickly, about a few weeks later. My husband got sick, an acute respiratory viral infection, but he recovered quickly. Then my son got sick. A very severe cough with fits, vomiting and loss of consciousness. We treated it with everything possible, for many months, 6-10. We had every possible test done, and nothing. The child coughs until he loses consciousness. I came home after yet another procedure from the hospital and told my husband that I didn’t know what to do, nothing was helping, I was in shock. And he says that his father asked: had we been tested for whooping cough? I say no, whooping cough wasn’t even suspected in our case. We got tested, and it turned out to be exactly that. After the diagnosis was established, we recovered in 14 days.”
This is just a fraction of the stories out of thousands. The world’s largest database of dreams that came true is collected in our app. There you will find examples that will confirm or refute your guesses. And more than 7000 symbols that are not publicly available.
