A story that came true: butterfly or mosquito?

I am indoors. It looks like a room. I see a mosquito sitting on the table. I look closely. I approach quietly so as not to scare it off. I raise my hand to kill it. I see that it is, it turns out, a butterfly with very beautiful wings of a blue pearlescent color with iridescent hues. Its head is turned toward me, and it is looking at me.

The butterfly’s body is very large, especially the rear part of its torso and its legs, while the wings are significantly smaller. But I admire the beauty of the wings and pay no attention to anything else. It takes flight and moves toward me. I feel shock, I am stunned. I back away, but the butterfly is already practically next to my face, so big. I turn away and run.

I remember calling the children for help. The older son says that’s it, he killed it. He is pleased that he killed it, that he wasn’t afraid, like me. The younger one looks confused. I approach again. I look closely again. I see that the butterfly is lying on the table. Under it and around it – everything is covered in its innards, like a real insect. The shock turns into disgust with squeamishness.

The butterfly takes flight and again comes toward me. And those little wings are now practically invisible. Some mixed feeling appears, I don’t even know how to describe it, but it’s neither disgust nor squeamishness. The dream ended.

Interpretation of this dream

A mosquito in dreams signifies an annoying, unprincipled person who, despite their insignificance, has the ability to cause problems. A butterfly is the process of transformation, of transition from an unsightly, gray state of being to a beautiful, spiritualized life with a sense and feeling of happiness. Colored, multicolored butterflies very often symbolize the so-called movements in the soul caused by the feeling of impending happiness.

Color is a sensory, emotional characteristic of an event, phenomenon, or character. Blue is the heavens, the eternal. Kindness, loyalty, constancy, spirituality. Also honesty, chastity, nobility of origin. It can be an indication of a gift of fate, higher protection and patronage. Hidden power and calm.

A butterfly in the house is a sign of marital, family happiness.

In this dream, the dreamer saw not just a butterfly, but a creature with a large body and long legs. This indicated that behind the beautiful shell hides something coarse, corporeal, base. The wings were beautiful, but the body was large and repulsive.

When she tried to kill the insect, it turned out to be filled with innards, like a real insect. This meant that the illusion would shatter, and she would see the truth. And that truth would be disgusting.

The fact that the butterfly took off again and flew toward her indicated that the illusion had not disappeared completely. The person who created it kept coming back.

How this story came true in life

When she met her ex, she initially perceived him as annoying. He came every day, while work was on her mind. She left for another city so that the family wouldn’t drown in debt. There was no time for relationships.

However, the ex was persistent. She took a closer look at him. She liked him. And she fell in love. They got together. Things were different. There was both reciprocity and warm, tender feelings. She called their life together in some way a mutual illusion. Those very beautiful small wings from the dream.

But reality made itself known. Anything happened. He threw her into shock completely with his infidelity and everything connected with it. She experienced all the same feelings and emotions as in the dream.

It’s surprising that all acquaintances and her friend considered them an ideal couple, an ideal family. There was a time when she and her ex also thought they complemented each other.

She felt bad not because he cheated, but because of what he did when she found out. It was also bad that the children saw everything that was happening between them. The fact that in the dream the older one responded to the call for help and killed the butterfly, while the younger one felt confusion, but in the dream he also responded to the call for help – they helped her get out of this stress, supported her.

Stupid, of course, to behave like that, to try to bring back something that essentially never existed. To be a doormat that both the ex and his mistress wiped their feet on. Understanding, awareness, parting with illusions – all of this takes time.

And she doesn’t regret anything. There was both disgust and fastidiousness, and again he, like an obsession. The fact that at the end of the dream the butterfly again flew persistently toward her possibly means that on his side it’s not finished yet.

But she already knows that this is not a butterfly. This is a mosquito. And she won’t give in to the illusion again.

How to interpret dreams about illusions in relationships

Dreams in which something beautiful turns out to be dangerous don’t come by chance. They indicate that you are in an illusion. You see what you want to see, not what actually is.
