What a toilet means in a dream: interpretation according to the dream book and stories that came true

In most dreams that came true, a toilet in a dream symbolizes the need to “wash away” accumulated problems, stress, or overstrain. All dreams without exception in which this symbol appears (toilet, lavatory, toilet bowl, urinating, going to the toilet in a dream) mean that recently the person who had such a dream has been in circumstances of psychological or emotional pressure and tension.

Any actions involving the toilet seen in a dream are an attempt to get rid of such tension, and of any kind: emotional or physical. This is often symbolically reflected in dreams as urination, the urge to urinate, or defecation. That is, to free oneself from tension.

Two main interpretations of the symbol

According to our dream book, the dream symbol “toilet” can be interpreted most accurately, since this dream book is based on the analysis of dreams that came true.

The first interpretation is the most common one. A toilet, going to it, or trying to relieve oneself is the need to get rid of tension. In this case, the plot of the dream is focused on the desire to find a toilet, go to it, and the process itself.

At the same time, in real life, a person is simply “torn apart” by tension. This state can affect any sphere of life. It is easy to identify by the events on the eve of such a dream. It could be fatigue, the inability to resolve some issue, a relationship with someone that has reached a dead end. There are a great many options, but the essence is the same: a person simply needs to release this tension. That is why he looks for a toilet in a dream.

The second option is less common. When the focus of attention is on a dirty, soiled toilet or restroom, this is an indication of the physiological needs of the body: an attempt to get rid of waste products and toxins.

As a rule, emotional and physical tension is symbolically reflected in dreams as urination. But “heavier” relationships or prolonged stress may be represented in the symbolism of the urge to “go number two.”

To sit on the toilet or over a potty in a dream means having the opportunity to get rid of what is unnecessary, of what is currently hindering you in life.

A toilet with water (overflowing) indicates that recently stress in your life has led to a disruption in other spheres of life. You urgently need to restore a certain equilibrium, a balance.

We do not give it much thought, but our subconscious creates impressively similar images: the toilet and the lower part of the human body with its excretory functions are almost exact copies. When in dreams we see or perform any actions with a toilet, we receive a signal from our subconscious about the need to cleanse ourselves. It is important here to understand that this may concern both health, and energy, and strength.

Especially if you dream of a dirty toilet, clogged, blocked. Such a dream indicates a “blockage” of some excretory system. Including your real one.

A dream that came true: a son’s cry and a toilet in the yard

A participant shared a dream. She is in her parents’ yard. She sees a toilet, a pit with sewage, without a top, and next to it a shed. She hears a cry calling for help and pain. It is her son’s cry. She runs to look for him, afraid that he has fallen into the pit. The path seems long. Finally she finds her son next to the toilet in the little shed on the potty. He has already pooped. He was small, although in life he is 12 years old. She was very glad that he had not fallen into the pit.

How it came true: her son’s ear hurt, and the side [of his face] swelled. They feared it was mumps. The diagnosis was acute otitis. After treatment, there were pains again and a temperature of 40. Fear that it was meningitis. The diagnosis was purulent tonsillitis. She worried terribly and fell ill herself.

Interpretation. A cry for help in a dream warns of danger, but you can help avoid the event if you understand what to do. If adult children are dreamed of as little ones, this means worries and anxiety about children. Such dreams often occur before a child’s illness. The son was 2 years old in the dream. The fact that he did not fall into the pit means a greater danger was avoided. On the potty, he got rid of pus during an illness without consequences. The long path, when she was looking for him, he was ill for about a month.

This dream shows how a toilet in a dream can warn of a child’s illness. A pit with filth is a symbol of danger. A cry for help is a warning. The fact that the son did not fall into the pit means that the worst was avoided.
