Oneironaut’s report: the crisis in Belarus

One of the project participants shared a report about what he saw in response to a request about the crisis in Belarus. The dream was recorded in March 2011.

Dream:

He looks at the inner wall of the multi-story building in which he lives. There are streaks on it. The wall is being eaten away, the interior finish begins to fall off, and then cracks form on the wall itself. He wants to find out where the water is pouring from. He goes out into the courtyard and looks from below upward at the nine-story building. The stream of water is coming from somewhere above and passes through all the levels of the building. It has affected everyone living in it, with the only difference being that the consequences touched some more than others. On one of the levels, the stream left a rotting trace with mold. On another, the wall could not withstand it, and a breach formed. It is possible that after this the apartment will be unfit for habitation. There were several apartments that, because of what happened, ended up completely empty. There were exceptions as well. All that remained was simply a trace of water.

The building tilted and began to sink. It seemed that a little more and it would collapse. All the residents began to unite into groups and decide what to do next. The first proposals were to turn to the executive committee and demand that everything be investigated. They demanded compensation for damages. But such attempts led nowhere. There were no answers at all, as if there had been no questions either. The people did not calm down, and the next decision was to punish someone, to find someone to blame. But no matter how much this was discussed, it all came to nothing. All the outrage had a one-sided order.

Finally, individuals began to emerge from the groups, the meaning of whose actions came down to the following: a new road must be laid, like rails, which will have a certain direction, and, placing the entire building on these rails, move it to a new position. At the same time, one can rely only on oneself, since there is nowhere left to wait for help.

After some time, the whole crowd agreed with these representatives of the groups. By the way, this happened quite quickly. Rails were laid, and the house, placed on these rails, was dragged by the people themselves, like barge haulers pulling on ropes. The house survived.

What does this dream mean

Water in a dream symbolizes the flow of events that affected everyone. The house is the country, society. Cracks and fractures are the crisis that destroys the usual way of life. Some suffered more, others less. Some apartments became empty – these are people who left the country or lost everything.

The reaction of people in the dream reflects the real behavior of society in a crisis: first attempts to get help from the authorities, then the search for those to blame, and finally – the realization that one can only rely on oneself. The rails and the new path are the search for a way out of the crisis. People dragged the house themselves – this means that they themselves will build a new life without hope for help from outside.

The dream of a female participant: Lukashenko’s new house

A participant shared a dream from June 2018. She is walking along a road. A house appears on the left. A Lukashenka-style one. A high-rise of 20-25 floors, but narrow, with a single entrance, gray as gray can be. It had just been built, residents had not yet had time to move in. By Lukashenka’s decree. For ordinary people. Part of the facade is glass. Through the rectangular glass blocks, balconies and living rooms are visible. The balconies have a lattice iron partition of a repulsively brown color, and they are recessed deep into the building. She thought that it would always be dark there, that with such a construction practically no light gets inside. She walked past. Apparently, that house was not meant for her. The construction site was spread out widely. She had to cross a sandy road, churned up by construction equipment, with wet reddish sand. Construction workers in white hard hats stood watching as she crossed and walked away. On her feet she wore white high-heeled sandals with “shot-glass” heels. She felt no discomfort.

Fulfillment: on December 1, 2018, a new presidential decree of Belarus about “parasites” was introduced. A new database began operating, which included 500,000 Belarusians. By law, starting January 1, these people were obliged to pay the full cost of housing and communal services. The house from the dream symbolized the new rules that affected many. The dark apartments – the absence of prospects. The sandy road – the difficulties that had to be overcome.
